A Personal Journey
The tale of Aloha Activism is characterized by resilience, commitment, and unwavering devotion to enhancing the Puna community. With extensive personal experience, having grown up at the foot of the geothermal plant, my father suffering from 90% mercury poisoning, I have never experienced good health. Our rights and well-being were violated when they encroached on our land, affecting not only me but also my entire community, and now my daughter also faces respiratory problems due to our shared reality.
I personally am working towards liberating ourselves and our land from it, alongside many others in the community. We are a part of the land (Ā'ina) too, after all. With the introduction of another Facebook platform, Aloha Activism has embarked on a new phase in their efforts to spotlight geothermal news and education.(if you ever notice I'm not posting for over a few days, that means my meta accounts are frozen and that you can find me here or tik tok)
As the first rays of the 2024 hawaii energy injunction broke the horizon, Aloha Activism found themselves blacklisted from accounts, on the very day of the community endeavor. This unexpected hurdle only fueled their passion and determination to fight against censorship and uphold the rights of the community they serve.
Standing Against the Tide
The battle for geothermal rights in Puna is not merely about energy; it is a fight for justice, transparency, and the preservation of a way of life deeply entwined with the land. Aloha Activism's unwavering stance against forces that seek to silence them speaks volumes about the decades of gaslighting and ecocide in Hawaii that they are combatting.

At present, the community is dealing with PGV and the County of Hawaii in an unprecedented Geothermal Injunction in an effort to protect our home. Aloha Activism is committed to providing genuine geothermal education and raising awareness globally, as existing information on geothermal energy is filled with misleading narratives and falsehoods about its cleanliness.
