Currently, my work hours have been reduced because I had to take 4 sick days in a span of 3 months as a result of Puna Geothermal Venture polluting my community and environment. I was already facing significant challenges, trying to manage my responsibilities while supporting my family and community in dealing with the health and human rights impacts caused by this external entity. It is difficult to rely on traditional jobs when unexpected health issues arise, making it impossible to work effectively. Despite my efforts to raise funds through a birthday fundraiser in July/August to address these issues, I did not receive any support, even from my large social media following who appreciate my advocacy and educational content on the harmful effects of geothermal activities on our planet. Without the necessary resources, I am unable to continue providing vital information to the community. With my work hours reduced, I am struggling to support those in need within the Geothermal Radius without the assistance of my audience. I am facing challenges in affording basic necessities for my child during the upcoming holidays, despite always being ready to help others in their times of need. I humbly request your support in addressing this critical cause.
As a result of the hidden agendas related to Geothermal energy and the misinformation being spread to the public, our efforts to seek assistance are often suppressed and kept secret, never coming to light. Since my birth in this place, my entire existence has revolved around this external force, with my earliest memories being of constantly fleeing to safety from Geothermal threats. I am not alone in this experience. Supporting the KahuPuna Community office financially will enable me to ensure the safety of myself and numerous others. I cannot move forward without this crucial support...
My father has been significantly impacted mentally by it, and I have grown up hearing about his daily struggles with sickness caused by constant exposure to PGV. He was medically diagnosed with being 90% poisoned by Mercury due to Puna Geothermal, which unfortunately means he will never fully recover from this severe heavy metal poisoning.
and you know what??? he is just one of numerous individuals in this community who will face the consequences of this unregulated and unmonitored foreign company engaging in volcano fracking in Puna, Hawaii, which seems to operate above the law (we have more than 150 individuals within the vicinity who are calling for this to stop, individuals who have lived through decades of their own experiences at change.org/pgvpetitionaole . These are the individuals I advocate for. Some have unfortunately passed away ... One was convinced that it was PGV causing his demise, a belief we share. All his symptoms were indicative of geothermal toxins, a result of living in them constantly 24/7..)
Despite the presence of news reporters and independent journalists, none of them dares to disclose the truth to the world. In 2024, no authority is willing to confront the issue, as civil defense (also known as PGV defense) neglects the residents during the flow testing in October 2024. The Hawaii Tribune Herald provided contact numbers, but they went unanswered during emergencies when Geothermal gas was detected in residents' homes while they were sleeping.
The lower court judge has amassed 157 pages in the unprecedented 2024 Hawaii Geothermal injunction, involving numerous community members, volcano scientists, and individuals with a blood connection to Madame Pele, the Hawaiian volcano goddess. They all seek a fair trial, presenting 40 years of evidence showing the impact on human health from children to the elderly, as well as the violation of human rights. Despite the evidence of daily gassings by Puna Geothermal Venture and attempts to conceal fracking-induced earthquakes by USGS and HVO, the judge ruled in favor of Israeli Puna Geothermal Venture. The judge's minute order claimed that after reviewing all declarations and evidence, there was no cause for concern or doubt. This ruling suggests that even lower 3rd circuit court Judges in Hawaii can be influenced by external factors, which is deeply troubling.
Rest assured, the appeal has been submitted. Sara Steiner promptly raised the $450 required and lodged an appeal to the Supreme Court. Stay updated for the hearing date, as it is crucial to uphold our constitutional rights to a fair trial and seek a resolution to this matter. Sara, who is my mother, serves as an inspiration for my own activism, and I aspire to emulate her determination and unwavering commitment. Without the necessary support from my backers, I may not be able to document our journey to the Supreme Court and expose the truth to the public.
I will never give up because my mother, who has devoted her life to Kilauea Volcano, also deserves to breathe. Like my father's health struggles, my mother makes daily sacrifices without seeking any recognition, funding, or reimbursement. She is a true warrior, and with our Tūtū Pele by her side, I am certain that victory is on the horizon. We just need to persevere.
Not only do my parents and I experience the effects of this environment, but my dear child and her father also suffer. Our daughter has been struggling with lung problems since she was a baby and is extremely sensitive to the geothermal toxins. Due to the unmonitored and unregulated gas emissions along the Mackenzie coast, she had to be taken out of school as her health couldn't handle the daily commute, resulting in excessive absences that were detrimental to her academic record. As a result, she is now being homeschooled. We are entitled to a normal life and the right to breathe without fear. Everyone should feel safe breathing the air.
In Puna, all of us are experiencing poverty. There is no opportunity to move uphill away from the windy area. This would require money... as well as recognition of the problems, which they previously acknowledged, but are now refusing to do so because of the highly toxic environment here. Acknowledging this would imply that we are not as irrational as they claim.
Starting with the acknowledgment of the fissures created by PGV during the 2018 eruption in Leilani Estates due to their misguided well quenching, it would validate our long-held assertions. This recognition would also confirm the accuracy of scientific findings (our scientists are accurately depicting the situation, but people are reluctant to face reality), potentially leading to the designation of Leilani Estates as a hazardous CONDEMNED area. This designation could disrupt their unrestricted exploitation of tūtū Pele without any regulatory oversight or concern for the surrounding āina.
