🚨🚨 URGENT: PGV IS RELEASING TOXIC CHEMICALS OVER OUR HOMES IN JUST 3 DAYS — April 7 or sooner. They also believe they can legally only give the world same day notice as thats when they plan to put it in the Hawaii Tribune herald #AOLE ! ⚠️⚠️

People are already sick. Families are terrified. Authorities continue to ignore us.
PGV recently sent this "courtesy" email to a small group of residents, excluding others like me and my family, who are in the most vulnerable location (based on previous readings during flow tests and leaks). Mike Kaleikini is particularly aware that I need to be notified since my child and entire family become very ill during these events, and he constantly refuses to actually notify me alongside the others on the list. It's unbelievable the extent of the injustices that Puna faces.
“PGV is planning to do a Flow Test of production well KS-22. The current schedule is to start on Tuesday, 7 April, or shortly thereafter. Flow Testing will last 4 hours or less, during the day.”
They mailed a PDF notice to a few nearby residents. A tiny legal notice is also going to be buried in Monday’s Hawaiʻi Tribune Herald — the paper almost nobody actually gets delivered anymore, on the same day that this will be starting
they always use the words "on or before , or shortly thereafter" in the newspapers , to cover their criminal azzes and to say they warned anyone when noone actually gets notified. The community usually only ever knows because they have to go in ambulance to the hospital, or they are extremely sick.. -KahuPuna
This is NOT okay.
During these atmospheric flow tests they deliberately release dangerous substances into the air we breathe making mamy community members dealthy ill, including trips to the hospital via ambulance , all of which is convealed and covered uo by your friendly neigborhood HPD, Civil defence aka PGV defence, and all authorities in place to protect residents:
• Sulfur Hexafluoride (SF₆)— the super-potent greenhouse gas shown in the Google AI Overview:
- 23,900 times more powerful than CO₂ as a greenhouse gas
- Half-life of 3,200 years in the atmosphere
- Heavily regulated and increasingly banned in California for use as a tracer gas because of its persistence and danger
• Hydrogen Sulfide (H₂S) — the highly toxic rotten-egg gas that comes straight from the well:
- Causes headaches, nausea, burning eyes and throat, and worse at higher levels
- Can paralyze your sense of smell so you don’t even know it’s there
- PGV claims they “abate” it, but community members report symptoms with every test
Other emissions include CO₂ and hundreds of other trace contaminants from the geothermal brine.
We as the Puna community enduring this fir decades are in court fighting to stop this. People are dying and being completely ignored by the agencies that are supposed to protect us.
Right now — in the next 72 hours — we need your help:
- Stay indoors with windows and doors closed if you smell anything unusual (or nothing at all)
- Monitor air quality closely — check DOH stations and personal monitors if you have them
- Share this post aggressively — our community must know what’s coming
- Call Hawaii DOH Clean Air Branch and your elected officials TODAY
- Support the ongoing court case — every voice and every share counts
This is our air. This is our children’s health. This is our home.
We cannot keep allowing them to poison us while hiding behind tiny newspaper notices and email blasts to a handful of people.
Get informed. Get loud. Protect our ‘ohana.
Gas masks won’t solve everything — but unified community pressure might.
Mark your calendars and SHOW UP APRIL 15TH at 900 am for the 930 hearing in Hilo Environmental Court for geothermal rulemaking , its the next date in the series of court dates filed by Sara Steiner of the Puna community on behalf of the entire Puna Environment and all life within it . We will meet at 9 am in parking lot for Pule (prayer) before we go in. Please wear red. Bring gas masks if you have them..(for small demonstration outside)
