"A structure fire in Puna is potentially linked to squatters, according to Hawai‘i Island police.
At 8:44 p.m. on Monday, Hawai‘i Firefighters responded to the blaze at the 15-0800 block of Kahakai Boulevard in Pāhoa. Once on scene, they found a 40-foot-by-25-foot single-story wood-framed structure with flames emanating from its eaves and windows.
Crews from Company 10 made an initial transitional attack. Flames were extinguished while a primary search for victims was conducted." --- Via Big Island Now
I was actually stuck in this last night while working amd delivering. 10:10 pm I was in a line of cars on kahakai Blvd waiting to get through and I thought it was a car accident ... now I see what really happened, wow! Praying all are OK.

The images I took above seem to be the ending of it all, I had been headed down to iao street, but as soon as I got to keonepoko school there was a big line of cars stopped at the stables area. Around 10:10 pm or so. The road had lots of dark marks on it like a car had been burned but I didn't smell anything or think to look at the houses..

"There are no park closures related to the seismic swarm at this time. Temporary area closures could occur if seismicity increases. If an eruption occurs, visitors should expect the eruption site to close immediately while the park assesses if safe access is possible."
Oh by the way... been arguing back and forth with hvo since june 3rd 2024 about the one and only form of monitoring down here being purposely turned off , actually covering up severe threats to life down in the Lower East rift zone
Please know , that HVO , USGS AND PGV, OHA and DHHL sure work so hard to keep any truths regarding kīlauea volcano, from you, the people.

☆☆☆Hawai‘i Land Trust, Island Harvest permanently protect 28 acres of Kohala farmland
We need this in Puna Coastal areas please. It's actually been a dream and goal of mine with KahuPuna , to preserve the last remaining untouched kingdom that is out here from the Pohoiki to the kalapana-kaimu coast .
There are some efforts by kalapana fishing council , but I want to preserve the raw ohia forests that are untouched out here from development, and to protect it from the ecocide that's enabled allowed and covered up by OHA and DHHL here in our lands . ( This is a long term goal for my non profit. Still years away. )

☆☆☆☆Police investigating possible drowning at Kehena Beach on Big Island
Super sad .. many , many a soul come to our islands and never return from vacation due to their uneducation on the hawaii waters. Kahena is NOT a place for "tourists" .
"Puna patrol officers responded at approximately 8:13 a.m. to the Kehena Beach area after receiving information that a male was unresponsive and not breathing after being pulled from the water.
With the assistance of a by-stander, CPR was administered by a bystander and HFD medics, but was later pronounced dead after being transported to the Hilo Medical Center.
The victim has been positively identified as Timothy Zedalis of Denver, Colorado."

"A North Kohala-based automotive detailer has been hand-picked to work on one of the world’s most famous aircraft.
Robin Marquez, owner and operator of Signature Auto Detail Hawai‘i, LLC, is a member of the 2024 Air Force One Detailing Team at Seattle’s Museum of Flight. This marks his second time, having previously participated in 2019.
“I feel honored to be selected again for such a prestigious project,” said Marquez. “My fatherserved in the Navy and my brother retired from the Air Force. Although I’m not in the military, Ibelieve that my detailing talents fulfill my desire and patriotic duty to restore, maintain andprotect a part of American aviation history.”
